Lightbulb moments in marriage

12 Biblical perspectives for successful and satisfied couples

About the book

Lightbulb Moments in Marriage by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs is a faith-centered marriage resource designed to help couples experience meaningful “aha” moments that can bring clarity, healing, and renewed understanding to their relationship. Drawing from more than two decades of counseling and ministry experience, Dr. Eggerichs shares twelve biblically grounded insights that encourage couples to shift their perspective, strengthen communication, and view one another through the lens of God’s Word.

This book gently addresses common frustrations many couples face — repeated misunderstandings, communication breakdowns, and the feeling of being stuck despite sincere effort and prayer. Through memorable, Scripture-anchored truths, readers are invited to reconsider how they respond to their spouse, how they pursue mutual understanding, and how biblical wisdom can transform everyday interactions within marriage.

With practical encouragement and spiritually rooted guidance, Lightbulb Moments in Marriage offers couples fresh perspective and simple but powerful reframes that can bring greater peace, connection, and intentionality to their relationship — whether newly married or decades in.

Now that you have a background on this treasure of a book, let’s dive deeper with my personal review.

My Personal Thoughts & Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wow, I am more than halfway through the new Christian non-fiction book, Lightbulb Moments in Marriage! Based on what I’ve read, this is a 5-star read for me. Dr. Emerson Eggerichs has already enlightened me on many areas I hadn’t fully explored, even after almost 17 years of marriage. Topics he’s gracefully covered that have been impactful to me are: our value being God-given, not spouse-driven; our worldview — the Holy Word, not Hollywood; communication versus mutual understanding; and evaluating our intent — “Does the way we treat our spouse move the heart of Christ?”

I always enjoy a book that offers substance beyond surface-level encouragement, and this one delivers. This book has great value with stories from Dr. Eggerich’s work in communication and marital relationships, question sections, frameworks, numerous Scripture references, and lists of action steps. I am also pleased with the focal point of God’s design for marriage throughout Lightbulb Moments in Marriage.

I recommend this book to married couples fighting to save their sacred unions, especially those who have been taken over by arguments, personal differences, tension, and misunderstandings, leaving them striving to survive.

At this stage in my reading, I can confidently say the seven biblical perspectives (”lightbulb moments”) I’ve read thus far are a biblically anchored starting point for addressing striving in marriage. The conversations my husband and I have had since the beginning of this book have already been rewarding.

Howdy, Handsome Review: A Sweet Romantic Comedy to Start 2026

Howdy, Handsome was the perfect book to kick off my romance reading for 2026. I immediately fell in love with the FMC in this sweet romcom and found myself eagerly rooting for her happily ever after. The cowgirl-and-astronaut pairing felt refreshingly unique, and the way Cassandra Joelle brought those two worlds together was both fun and creative.

A Lighthearted, Funny Romance That’s Easy to Binge

Humor fills the pages, which was exactly what I needed. Reading is one of my mental wellness practices, and this story kept me laughing and turning the pages, wondering if the astronaut would ever come out of his amnesia. It’s definitely a page-turner.

A Faith-Forward Romance Focused on Friendship and God’s Timing

What stood out most was the beautiful portrayal of friendship and romance done God’s way. I loved how both the FMC and MMC turned to prayer throughout their journey, gently weaving faith into the story. It was a heartfelt reminder that God’s timing is always perfect.

Book Review: Let In the Light: 50 Devotions

Book Review: Let In the Light: 50 Devotions

This post contains a gifted item. While the devotional featured was kindly sent to me, all opinions, reflections, and experiences shared here are entirely my own. I only share resources I genuinely use, love, and believe can be a blessing to you too.

If you’re anything like me, you know what it’s like to wake up with good intentions, to crave a peaceful, grounded start — but end up rushing straight into the noise of the day. Recently, I picked up a devotion book that has gently shifted that pattern for me, and I’m so excited to share how it’s been a blessing to my morning rhythm: Let In the Light: 50 Devotions to Confidently Know God is Good and Guiding Your Steps. (Yes, it was gifted to me, but every word here comes from my heart.)

Morning calm in 10 minutes or less

One of the sweetest things about this devotional is how manageable each session feels. In just 10 to 15 minutes, you can step away from your to-do list, breathe, and reconnect with God. It doesn’t require hours of reflection or preparation, just a quiet space, maybe your favorite mug of herbal tea, and a willingness to listen for the voice of God. For me, that’s been the perfect recipe, especially on busy mornings. No pressure, no rushing. Just a moment of peace before the day unfolds.

That gentle structure has helped turn what used to be a chaotic “wake-up scramble” into a slow, intentional practice. I find myself leaning into those few minutes of calm, and honestly, I often carry that calm forward long after I’ve closed the book.

More than words — a full‑senses experience

I love books that engage more than just the mind, and Let In the Light does just that. Every page is adorned with cozy, warm photography that feels like a soft invitation: “Slow down. Breathe. Rest.” The images don’t distract, but they welcome. They set a mood of tranquility.

And then there’s the book itself: it’s beautiful. From the elegant white ribbon bookmark that falls right where you left off to the gentle font and soothing color palette, it truly feels like a little treasure. There’s something comforting about holding it and turning the page to that particular day’s devotion. As someone who appreciates beauty and softness in design, it’s the kind of book I don’t just read, I savor.

Journal prompts that don’t overwhelm, but invite

What really takes this devotional beyond “pretty book” into “truly helpful tool” territory are the thoughtful journal prompts at the end of each reading. They’re not heavy or demanding; instead, they offer gentle invitations to deeply reflect.

I’ve never been consistent with journaling long-term, but these prompts have made it so easy. They don’t intimidate me. They encourage me. And in those short, reflective moments, I can feel tension soften, anxiety ease, and hope whisper.

A companion for the soul

If you love aesthetic beauty, peaceful rhythms, and the idea of starting your day with God, this devotional could be a perfect match. It doesn’t ask too much. It just offers space: space to breathe, to reflect, to trust. Space to remember who you are in Him and that He’s guiding each step.

For me, it’s become more than “just another book.” It’s become my morning companion, a soft reminder that even in the rush of life, God is good. He is with me. He is guiding me. And sometimes all we need is a quiet moment to let His light in.

When the world feels loud, overwhelming, or uncertain, I am grateful for these little moments of peace. If you’re searching for something simple, gentle, and beautiful to help you walk deeper in faith, I wholeheartedly recommend Let In the Light. May it calm your spirit, steady your heart, and lead you to God’s guided steps of grace for you.

The Message Women’s Devotional Bible — My New Favorite Bible for This Season

My New Favorite Bible for This Season

Recently, I’ve been reading the Bible chronologically, and it has been an informative experience. But I knew I wanted one of the Bibles I use during this process to be a Bible that would not only make the Word come alive in a fresh way, but also help me slow down and reflect as I read.

When The Message Women’s Devotional Bible came into my hands from NavPress, published in alliance with Tyndale House Publishers, I felt it was perfect for this journey.

Why I’m Loving It

I’ve always appreciated The Message translation for the way it captures Scripture in a clear, everyday way. It’s easy to read but still deeply meaningful, making me pause and think about how the passage reveals the character of God and His story.

But what makes this edition so special is that it’s written by women, for women, and that focus comes through this entire Bible. The devotionals speak directly to the heart, the stories of women in Scripture are highlighted beautifully, and there’s an intentional care for the unique challenges and joys we experience as women of faith.

Also, I can’t forget to mention something I love most: the cover. It’s a warm terracotta with a soft, leather-like feel that makes it both beautiful and polished. It’s the kind of Bible you want to pick up, hold, and open regularly.

Inside you’ll find:

  • 320 topical devotions written by women from all walks of life

  • Thoughtful introductions to each section of the Bible that highlight women’s needs and perspectives

  • Profiles of important figures in Scripture

  • Space and sensitivity for women to engage with difficult Bible passages

  • A beautiful terracotta, leather-look cover that makes this Bible feel timeless and special

How This Bible Helps With  Bible Reading

Reading the Bible chronologically means I’m covering a lot of ground, and sometimes I can be tempted to just “get through” the day’s reading. But having these devotionals and profiles woven right into the text helps to slow down, reflect, and see Scripture through a lens that’s both personal and relatable.

There’s something exciting about seeing the stories of women (named and unnamed) woven into God’s big story. It’s a reminder that He sees us, values us, and calls us into His work just as much today as He did then.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a Bible that will encourage your heart, speak into your everyday life, and give you fresh insight as you read, I can’t recommend The Message Women’s Devotional Bible enough. The combination of The Message’s approachable translation, the devotionals written for women, the profiles of important figures in Scripture, and the beautiful terracotta leather-look cover makes it a joy to read and a treasure to keep.

As I continue reading through Scripture for the remainder of this year and into the next, I know this Bible will be by my side, reminding me that God’s Word is alive, personal, and meant for me and for you.

Book Review: The Story of God and Us — Seeing the Bible as One SEAMLESS Story

Book Review: The Story of God and Us — Seeing the Bible as One SEAMLESS Story

Recently, I had the opportunity to receive “The Story of God and Us” by Dr. Jonathan Murphy from @WPublishing, and I must say that this one is a gem. I’m intentionally taking my time with it because it’s not just a book you rush through. It’s a journey through the Bible, “God’s story,” and it beautifully shows the many ways we are included in that story.

From the very first page, you can feel that this book was written with thought, care, and a heart for pointing readers back to Scripture. Dr. Murphy takes you from the beginning of God’s story, through Moses, to Jesus, and then to the end, weaving together the seamless narrative of God’s redemptive plan.

What I’m Loving So Far

There are several details that make this book stand out to me:

The cover design — It features images that represent the timeline of God’s story, a visual that captures the scope of the Bible at a glance.
Thoughtful reflection questions — At the end of the introduction and each chapter, there are questions that encourage you to pause, process, and apply what you’ve read.
Practical journaling space — The blank pages in the back are perfect for jotting down answers to those questions or personal reflections as you read.
The storytelling style — Dr. Murphy writes with clarity and ease, making the big story of the Bible approachable without losing its depth.
A Scripture-centered focus — This isn’t a book based on man-made opinions or self-help theories. It’s grounded in the Word of God, keeping the focus where it should be, on Him.

Why This Book Matters

In a world where numerous voices compete for our attention, I’m grateful for resources like The Story of God and Us. It helps me step away from noise and root myself again in the one true story that matters — God’s. It’s a reminder that His story is not just ancient history; it’s alive, active, and we are a part of it.

If you’re looking for a book to strengthen your understanding of Scripture, help you see the Bible as one continuous story, and inspire you to live in light of it,  this is one I’d recommend adding to your library.
